The core idea is to use Junkrat’s high burst damage and strong area-denial tools to surprise the enemy backline, disrupt defenses, and open space for your team.
1. Preparing from Spawn
Check enemy composition: Before heading out, look at who the enemy is running. Heroes like Pharah, Echo, or Widowmaker can make flanks tricky if they see you early. If you notice heavy defensive heroes (like Bastion or Torbjörn) entrenched on high ground, a flank can be even more impactful.
Coordinate with allies: Let your team know you plan to flank. This is crucial so your main group times their push while you pressure from behind (or above).
2. Flank Paths for Each Point
First Point
Left-side building flank: Right from the attacker spawn, you can jump up using your Concussion Mine onto the balcony in the first courtyard. From there, push deeper on the left through the building.
If the enemy is holding the choke at the archway, sneaking through the left building can get you behind them.
Once you are behind, keep your ears open for footstep cues—watch for enemy supports or hitscan heroes rotating near the health pack inside the building.
High ground route via roofs: Another method is to use a combination of Concussion Mines to propel yourself onto the upper rooftops on the right side.
This route is more exposed but gives you a vantage point to lob grenades onto unsuspecting enemies holding near the choke.
Second Point
Market/High Bridge approach: Once the payload is pushing through the open market area, you can use the rooftops near the church.
From the attacker’s perspective, go left through the market (under the arches), then Concussion Mine-jump up onto the balconies and rooftops.
Skirt along the high ground, dropping grenades onto the backline.
Watch out for long sightlines where snipers might spot you.
Moving behind the Courtyard: If the defenders cluster around the checkpoint with shields (e.g., Reinhardt or Sigma), loop around the back-left side near the spawn room corridor. This can catch them off-guard, especially if they’re hyper-focused on the payload path.
Third Point
Catwalk Flank (Defensive Spawn Side): As you move into the final courtyard leading to the power plant, you can slip around the left side (from attacker perspective) or right side (near the defenders’ final spawn) using your Mine-jumps to reach the catwalks above.
From there, you can spam grenades down onto the enemy team, forcing them off high ground or behind cover.
If you find a safe nook, you can deploy your RIP-Tire from above or behind for a devastating surprise.
3. Maximizing Junkrat’s Kit
Concussion Mine
Mobility: Use one or two Mines in succession to reach out-of-sight high grounds or flank routes.
Engage/Disengage: If you get in trouble behind enemy lines, quickly throw a Mine down and detonate it mid-air to escape.
