1. Understanding Havana’s Key Choke Points and Sightlines
Long, Open First Stretch
At the start of Havana, enemies typically hold near the first choke or on high ground above spawn. The wide sightlines benefit hitscan heroes (like Ashe, Widowmaker, Cassidy), so expect them to be perched.
As Doomfist, your mobility (Seismic Slam + Rocket Punch) is crucial to bypass open space quickly and force the enemy off high ground.
Narrow Streets Leading to the First Checkpoint
Once you push the payload beyond the open area, fights often happen in tighter streets or near corners of buildings. These spaces favor Doomfist’s close‐quarters style, allowing him to engage/disengage more safely.
Second & Third Points (Distillery and Final Warehouse)
Indoors and tighter angles make it easier for Doomfist to land Seismic Slams and Power Block to build up Empowered Punch.
Corners and cover are everywhere, so use them to block and quickly re‐engage with an empowered Rocket Punch.
2. Core Doomfist Abilities & How to Use Them
Power Block & Empowered Rocket Punch
Power Block: Absorbing damage with your block not only keeps you alive but also empowers your next Rocket Punch if you block enough damage.
Empowered Punch: Once fully charged, the punch gains greater distance, speed, and damage, capable of one‐shotting some squishies or at least displacing them severely.
Master Tier Tip
Use corners or payload itself to block line of sight briefly while you Power Block. You don’t want to stand in the open too long, but you want to bait enough damage to empower your punch. Peek out just enough for hitscans or burst heroes to feed you damage, then quickly re‐engage.
Seismic Slam
Great gap‐closer and setup for combos.
On Havana’s Attack, use it to quickly travel from low ground to high ground or close the gap to flankers in the backline.
Rocket Punch
Bread‐and‐butter for engages, combos, and displacements.
When empowered, it is a major threat to both Tanks (knocking them out of position) and squishies (potentially eliminating them outright).
Meteor Strike (Ultimate)
Excellent for quick repositioning, finishing off a wounded backline, or splitting the enemy team’s formation.
On Havana, you can aim Meteor Strike behind enemy cover to force them forward into your team’s line of fire—or drop it directly on a key support/sniper.
3. Engaging & Disengaging: Step‐by‐Step
Scout / Gather Ult Info
Before diving in, check for enemy snipers or heroes with crowd control (e.g., Ana Sleep Dart, Sombra Hack). These can shut you down if you engage poorly.
Coordinate with Your Team
Communicate when you plan to dive. A well‐timed Lucio speed boost or a Discord Orb from Zenyatta on a target can swing a fight.
Use Corners & Payload to Charge Power Block
Peek out, block incoming damage for a moment, then retreat behind cover. As soon as you get the empowered Punch, look for an isolated or high‐value target.
Combo: Seismic Slam → Empowered Punch
Seismic Slam into the enemy backline (or onto high ground).
Immediately follow up with Empowered Rocket Punch, aiming to knock a support or DPS out of position (or secure a kill if they’re squishy).
Finish Kills & Regenerate Shields
Thanks to Doomfist’s passive (temporary shields on hits), each successful blow keeps you alive longer. If you land picks or assists, you can stick around to brawl a bit more.
Disengage on Low Health
If health dips too far or your abilities are on cooldown, jump back to cover or use Meteor Strike to either finish kills or escape. There’s no shame in using the ultimate to reposition safely. |
