Charge Up Your Ultimates
Genji: Focus on dealing safe poke damage with Shurikens to build Dragonblade. Use Swift Strike to secure final blows or dash to safety, and Deflect to mitigate incoming fire and keep yourself alive.
Zarya: Maintain high Energy by shielding allies (including Genji) at the right time, especially when they’re about to take damage. More Energy equals higher damage output, which helps you charge Graviton Surge faster.
Tip: Communicate how close you both are to your ultimates. If Genji is nearing 80%, Zarya can play more aggressively to build Grav quickly.
2. Coordinate with Your Team
Merby (Support):
Keep Genji topped off so he can stay in the fight longer and safely build ult.
If Merby’s playing an aggressive support like Baptiste or Kiriko, they can also contribute extra damage to speed up the ult cycle.
Other Teammates:
Make sure the rest of the team knows you plan to combo Grav + Dragonblade so they can save their ultimates or abilities that might help secure or protect during the engage.
Tip: Use voice chat or the “I need healing/My ultimate is ready” commands to keep everyone updated.
3. Wait for the Right Moment
Identify the Enemy Grouping:
Wait until the enemy team clusters on an objective or in a choke point. Zarya’s Grav is far more effective when multiple targets are grouped.
Bait Out Key Cooldowns:
Have your tanks or DPS force out dangerous abilities like Ana’s Sleep Dart or Lucio’s Sound Barrier if possible.
Genji might even threaten a flank or do a quick poke to make the enemy panic and blow defensive cooldowns early.
Tip: The fewer stuns, sleeps, or defensive ults the enemy team has when you go in, the higher your odds of a clean team wipe.
4. Execute the Combo
Zarya’s Graviton Surge
As soon as she spots a group of at least 2–3 enemies together, Zarya fires off her Grav.
If she’s near high ground, she may lob it down to trap enemies in open space.
Genji’s Dragonblade
Once Grav locks enemies in place, Genji pops Dragonblade (Q).
Quickly Swift Strike into the Grav, slicing as many immobilized enemies as possible.
Support Coverage (Merby)
Merby times healing bursts or protective abilities (like Kiriko’s Suzu, Baptiste’s Immortality Field, or even a Mercy pocket) to keep Genji alive in the thick of it.
This is crucial if the enemy tries to counter with damage or focus fire.
Tip: If Genji is also Nano-Boosted (by Ana), the combo becomes even deadlier. But if that’s not available, Grav + Blade alone still packs a punch.
