❄️ Scene: Blizzard World – Attack Side, Inside Castle Gates
Your team is pushing into Point B, and Mauga (RSK) is on the frontline, deep in the enemy’s space. The enemy D.Va (ASUKAWW) drops a Self-Destruct to turn the tide.
📸 Frame-by-Frame Breakdown
🔹 Frame 1 — Bomb Tossed
D.Va ejects and sends the bomb flying to the left of Mauga.
Mauga is mid-Overrun charge, trying to retreat toward the payload area.
The bomb lands behind and to the side of him, and the detonation countdown begins.
🔹 Frame 2 — Ice Wall Appears
Mei (AYA) throws up an Ice Wall, possibly intending to block enemy vision or stall a flank.
However, the wall appears right between the bomb and Mauga — behind Mauga’s left side, curving slightly between him and the bomb.
Mauga, still charging, gets stuck between the wall and the payload tracks — he’s trapped!
At first glance, it looks really bad — Mauga is in bomb range and can’t escape.
🔹 Frame 3 — Explosion
The bomb detonates.
The explosion completely engulfs the area around Mauga.
Huge visual FX — it looks like Mauga is caught dead-center in the blast.
🔹 Frame 4 — The Wall Saves the Day
Despite being on the "bomb side" of the Ice Wall, Mauga takes zero damage.
The wall's placement interrupts line of sight from the bomb’s center to Mauga’s hitbox.
Bomb deals no damage without LOS, so it fails completely.
🔹 Frame 5 — Enemy Team Shattered
Mauga survives with full health, no scratches.
Mei immediately follows up with two eliminations in the kill feed.
The enemy team loses their ult value, positioning, and momentum — fight swings in your favor.
🧠 Why Mauga Survived – Explained
🔸 1. D.Va Bomb Requires Line of Sight
D.Va’s Self-Destruct isn’t just an AoE damage radius — it only affects enemies that the center of the explosion can “see.”
Any solid object blocks this vision — including Mei’s Ice Wall.
🔸 2. Ice Wall Has No HP — Blocks All Damage
The Ice Wall is indestructible while active.
It blocks explosions, hitscan, projectiles, and even vision-based ultimates.
One wall pillar was perfectly placed between the bomb and Mauga’s hitbox, which completely nullified the damage.
🔸 3. Close Doesn’t Mean Dead
Mauga looked dangerously close, but proximity doesn’t matter if LOS is broken.
Even touching the wall, if it blocks the visual line from bomb → hitbox, Mauga takes 0 damage.
✅ Conclusion:
Mei’s Ice Wall — intentional or not — became the hero of the play, completely blocking a deadly D.Va ult.
Mauga lived, re-engaged, and the enemy team mentally collapsed after watching their bomb do nothing.
