Torbjörn’s Old Kit Overview (OW1 1.0)
Rivet Gun (Primary/Secondary Fire)
Primary Fire: A single-shot projectile, good for medium-to-long range poking.
Secondary Fire: A shotgun-like blast at close range, high burst damage.
Build Turret
Level 1 on placement; must be upgraded to Level 2 by hammering (200 HP → 300 HP).
Molten Core (Ultimate) temporarily boosts your turret to Level 3 with increased fire rate, increased health (800 HP), and faster reload.
Hammer
Used to repair the turret and upgrade from Level 1 to Level 2.
Also does minimal melee damage.
Armor Packs
You generate Scrap from dead enemies (and teammates).
Use Scrap to create Armor Packs that provide temporary bonus armor (75 HP) to allies who pick them up.
Molten Core (Ultimate)
Boosts your turret from Level 2 → Level 3
Increases your own attack speed, reload speed, and armor for a short duration.
Great for bursting down pushes.
General Playstyle Tips
Pre-emptive Setup: Torbjörn’s power in OW1.0 comes from setting up early. Build and upgrade your turret before the attackers arrive.
Turret Coverage & Angles: Turret placements should cover key sightlines or choke points, but be mindful that the turret isn’t too exposed—if it’s easily focus-fired, it’s wasted.
Map Knowledge: Temple of Anubis offers multiple flanking routes (especially for Genji, Tracer, Sombra, etc.). Position turret to catch or deter flankers.
Scrap Management: Collecting scrap from corpses is crucial. Don’t over-extend just to gather scrap, but do your best to move safely and keep your supply high to create Armor Packs.
Armor Packs: Constantly drop Armor Packs for yourself and your teammates. On Temple of Anubis, allies often take chip damage from ranged pokes. An armor buffer significantly increases your team’s staying power.
First Point Defense
Common Turret Placements
Main Choke Archway (High Ground Ledge)
Position: There’s a ledge above the main choke on defenders’ right side.
Why it works: The turret can see the attackers as soon as they come through the arch, forcing them to focus on your turret or take damage. The turret also provides good coverage against flankers heading around the choke.
Drawback: If the enemy runs a hitscan or sniper, it can be destroyed quickly from afar. You’ll need to repair it safely from behind cover.
Left Room / Corridor Overlook
Position: Above the small side corridor on the defenders’ left.
Why it works: This covers the left flank route that leads to the mega health pack room. If enemy flankers try to push around the left, they’ll run into your turret’s line of fire, often unexpectedly.
Drawback: Less direct coverage of the main choke. The main fight might occur out of range, so you might not add as much pressure to the main push.
