Description
Overwatch has evolved significantly since then (and Zenyatta’s kit has seen some tweaks over time), these classic principles can still inform solid play styles. General Zenyatta Principles (Overwatch 1.0) Orb Management: Harmony Orb: Keep it on your main tank or the teammate taking the most damage, but don’t forget to swap it quickly to anyone who’s critically low. Discord Orb: Always keep it on the most threatening enemy or the one your team is focusing. Swiftly swap if a different high-priority target appears (e.g., a flanking Tracer or an ult-ing Reinhardt). Positioning: As a low-mobility, high-impact support, Zenyatta relies heavily on smart positioning. Stay near cover and avoid direct sightlines against enemy snipers or flankers. Zenyatta has no movement ability (aside from occasionally using a ride with Lucio Speed Boost or a teleporter/teammate synergy), so anticipating enemy pushes and rotating early is crucial. Aim & Fire Discipline: Zenyatta’s primary fire (single orbs) can poke at range, while the secondary fire (charged volley) can surprise enemies around corners or swiftly burst down a key target. Because Zenyatta’s orbs travel in a straight line with no drop-off and minimal travel time, you can snipe unsuspecting enemies from mid-long range if you have clear lines of sight. Ult Usage (Transcendence): Transcendence is one of the strongest defensive ults in the game, capable of nullifying many big offensive plays (e.g., Genji’s Dragonblade, Reaper’s Death Blossom, etc.). Save it for these moments or to sustain your team through a heavy push onto the point.
