Numbani in Overwatch: Classic (Patch 1.0). This guide reflects Torbjörn’s original kit and the map’s layout at launch. Keep in mind that Overwatch went through many balance changes after release, so some references here may differ from later patches or Overwatch 2. Nonetheless, this should help you understand core strategies and positioning for the earliest version of Torbjörn defending on Numbani.
Torbjörn’s Classic (Patch 1.0) Kit Overview
Rivet Gun
Primary Fire: A precise single-shot projectile. Good for mid-range pokes and finishing low-health targets.
Secondary Fire: A close-range shotgun-like blast. Useful in tight spaces or when flanking enemies get too close.
Build Turret
You can place a Level 1 turret instantly.
Hammering the turret upgrades it to Level 2. Level 2 turrets have more HP and deal higher damage.
Molten Core (Ultimate) temporarily upgrades your turret to Level 3, greatly increasing its fire rate, health, and damage output.
Collect Scrap & Forge Armor Packs
Fallen enemies (including your own teammates) drop Scrap. Collect Scrap to generate Armor Packs.
Armor Packs grant additional armor HP to allies (and yourself) upon pickup. This is a huge defensive advantage, especially for squishy heroes.
Molten Core (Ultimate)
Temporarily supercharges your turret from Level 2 to Level 3 (if your turret is active and at Level 2).
Also buffs your personal health, rivet gun rate of fire, and hammer swing speed.
Ideal for clutch defensive holds when the enemy tries to take the objective or break your turret.
