On Control maps like Nepal, your primary job is to protect teammates while securing or holding the point.
Reinhardt excels at creating space: use your barrier to help your team safely move in and claim positioning on or around the capture point.
Shield Discipline
Don’t waste your barrier health by holding it up when you’re not actively covering your team from danger.
Let your barrier recharge whenever possible—especially after you’ve pushed the enemy back or when you’re regrouping.
Managing Fire Strike & Swing Angles
Fire Strike is an effective tool to farm Ultimate charge and poke from distance. Aim it down choke points or through multiple enemies.
Use your hammer swings efficiently: They do high damage in a wide arc. If you catch multiple foes in close range, you quickly build Earthshatter.
Earthshatter Timing
Save Earthshatter for moments when you can catch multiple enemies off-guard (particularly other shield-tanks or enemy supports).
Sometimes waiting for an enemy to drop their shield or to be distracted is the key to landing a decisive “Shatter.”
Nepal Map Overview
Nepal has three distinct stages:
Village
Shrine
Sanctum
Each has its own layout, sightlines, and flank routes. Below are some stage-specific tips for Reinhardt.
1. Nepal: Village
Key Features
The point is inside a small structure with multiple entrances (main door, side door, and a narrow staircase leading up to a balcony area).
There is a mid/high ground across from the point where enemies might set up for poking or flanking.
Reinhardt Tips
Control the Main Choke to the Point
As you approach from spawn, you’ll likely be contesting the enemy at or near the main entrance. Use your barrier to push your team in, and try to hold that doorway once you secure the point.
Rotate Between Doors
The point has several entrances, and enemies will often try to flank. Keep your barrier oriented to the most immediate threat, but don’t be afraid to quickly swing around to check side doors if you sense a flank.
Use Corners to Your Advantage
Corners allow you to “dance” your barrier: you can block incoming fire, then briefly dip behind a wall to let your shield recharge.
Corners also let you set up Fire Strikes into choke points where the enemy is grouped.
Manage the High Ground
If you have heroes who can hold the high ground (e.g., hitscan DPS, Zenyatta, Ana), make sure they can safely stay up there. Angle your barrier so they aren’t easily dove upon.
Watch for enemy DPS or flankers dropping from the balcony to get behind your team.
