King’s Row is a hybrid map with an initial capture point followed by a payload escort phase. While it’s often associated with brawl compositions due to many tight corridors, Widowmaker can still find strong angles—especially in the first two phases—if you know where and when to position yourself. Let’s break down each phase, discuss positioning tips, and examine how to handle threats.
1. Map Overview
King’s Row has three main sections on Attack:
Point A (Capture Point)
The attackers start outside King’s Row’s plaza, needing to push through a main choke under an archway to capture the point located beyond a statue and a hotel on the left.
Streets Phase (Payload Escort to the Foundry Entrance)
After capturing Point A, you escort the payload through a winding urban street lined with buildings, ending just before entering the foundry.
Final Factory/Foundry Phase
The payload moves inside the foundry with multiple corridors and catwalks, ending at the final capture point.
Widowmaker thrives on long- and mid-range sightlines. King’s Row has a mix of narrow streets and vertical perches—perfect if you play carefully. However, once you move inside for the final phase, angles become tighter and flankers have an easier time reaching you. You’ll need to adapt your positioning accordingly.
2. General Widowmaker Tips (Attack)
Identify Key Sightlines
King’s Row has several strong vantage points for Widow, but you must be proactive in finding them as you push forward.
Constantly look for opportunities to perch above or on the side of the action rather than standing on the payload.
Use Corners & Cover
Avoid wide-open duels if possible, especially at the start.
Crouch-peek around corners and rooftops to minimize exposure to enemy snipers or hitscan.
Venom Mine = Early Warning
With flank routes around every corner, use your Venom Mine to protect your backside or watch a flank door.
On King’s Row, common flank paths include side streets, rooftops near the hotel, or corridors in the foundry.
Manage Grapple Cooldown Wisely
Use Grapple to quickly reach advantageous high ground or reposition if you’re under dive pressure.
Do not overextend onto high ground without Grapple ready to escape—dive tanks (Winston, D.Va) will punish you.
Coordinate
Widowmaker benefits greatly from team coordination. Call out enemy positions, flankers, or if you’ve dealt significant damage so your teammates can finish off targets.
