1. Positioning & Survival
1.1 Safe Sightlines
High Ground Advantage
Whenever possible, position yourself on high ground. This gives you clear sightlines to support your team while making it harder for flankers to dive you.
Use Corners and Cover
Peek out, deliver heals or shots, then dip back behind a wall or pillar. Minimizing your exposure is key, especially against hitscan or dive heroes that can quickly close the gap.
Distance Management
Keep a mid-range distance from your team. You want to be close enough to land healing shots reliably yet far enough that flankers or tanks can’t easily isolate and eliminate you.
1.2 Movement & Awareness
Always Be Moving
Strafe unpredictably to avoid enemy fire. Jumping too often can be predictable, so mix up crouches, AD strafes, and occasional jumps.
Flanker/Threat Tracking
At a Master level, it’s critical to keep mental tabs on where the enemy Tracer, Genji, Sombra, or other threats might be. If you lose sight of them, assume they’re coming for you.
2. Ability Usage & Mechanics
2.1 Biotic Rifle (Primary & Secondary Fire)
Scope vs. Hip-Fire
Use hip-fire (unscoped) when close to or in mid-range of your team/enemies to avoid scope-in time and maintain mobility.
Use scoped shots when you have safe positioning or need precise long-range healing/picks.
Quick Scoping
Ana can “quick scope” by briefly tapping the scope for an instant hit and immediately unscoping to remain mobile. Mastery of this mechanic is crucial for efficient healing and damage.
2.2 Sleep Dart
Prioritize High-Value Targets
Landing a Sleep Dart on an enemy tank isn’t always the best choice unless they’re using or about to use a powerful ability (e.g., Orisa’s Terra Surge, Winston’s leap, or Ramattra’s Nemesis Form). More often, sleeping a flanker (Genji, Tracer) or an enemy DPS/Support who is out of position can secure an easy elimination.
Reactionary and Predictive
Develop the habit of flicking Sleep Dart as soon as you see a diver commit or a Reaper teleport in. At Master rank, your reflexes on Sleep Dart can shut down entire enemy plays.
Combo with Allies
If you Sleep Dart someone, call it out immediately. Even at higher ranks, teams may not notice a slept target unless you communicate. A quick “Slept Winston behind” can lead to a swift focus fire from your team.
2.3 Biotic Grenade
Aggressive Use
A well-placed nade can swing fights. Throw it when your team is about to engage or if you see multiple enemies clumped. Denying their healing while boosting your team’s is a massive advantage.
Defensive Use
If your tank is under heavy focus fire, use nade to boost your healing on them and keep them alive through key moments. It can also save you in 1v1 situations.
Timing
Look for moments right before an ally’s big damage spike (e.g., Soldier: 76’s Helix Rocket, or a Cassidy grenade) to land an anti-nade that ensures you secure the kill.
2.4 Nano Boost (Ultimate)
Primary Targets
Heroes with strong ultimates or burst damage: Genji (Dragonblade), Reinhardt (Earthshatter follow-up), Soldier: 76 (Tactical Visor), Reaper (Death Blossom).
Aggressive Dive Tanks: Winston or Doomfist can receive Nano to dive effectively and survive longer.
Offensive vs. Defensive Nano
Offensive: Boost a DPS/tank mid-fight to secure teamfight wins.
Defensive: Sometimes you need to Nano your other support or a key DPS being dove upon to keep them alive. A Nano Mercy or Kiriko might survive a dive and turn the fight by continuing to heal or Rez.
Coordination
Before a fight, quickly confirm who you intend to Nano. Let your team know (“I’ll Nano you, Winston, when you jump”), so they can time their engagement with your Nano.
3. Communication & Teamplay
3.1 Callouts
Slept Target: Always call out a slept target and the location so your team can capitalize.
Grenade Cooldown: Let your team know when an enemy is “anti’d” and where. If you anti multiple targets, call it out (“3 anti’d in front!”) for a big follow-up.
Enemy Cooldowns: Help track critical enemy abilities (e.g., enemy Winston’s jump or Genji’s deflect). At Master rank, your team can better exploit those windows if they know key abilities are on cooldown.
3.2 Coordinating Nade and Ult
Pair your Biotic Grenade with ally ultimates or big plays. For example, if Zarya Grav pulls multiple enemies together, throw your nade in to prevent healing and guarantee kills.
Coordinate with your other support if you plan to be more offensive. Let them know you might need extra peel or healing if you step forward to throw an aggressive nade.
