(3×3) practical combo examples using his three abilities—Seismic Slam, Rising Uppercut, and Rocket Punch. While Doomfist can be aggressive, remember that on defense, your goal is to disrupt and delay the attackers, picking off vulnerable targets and denying space.
1. Map Overview: Watchpoint Gibraltar (Defense)
Key Defensive Positions
Spawn High Ground (First Bend)
At the start of the map, defenders spawn on the raised catwalk and balcony. You can drop down onto attackers leaving their spawn or hold the high ground to force them back.
Top of the Shuttle/Aircraft
Near the first checkpoint, the large shuttle on the left (from defender’s perspective) is prime high ground. You can Seismic Slam from there onto attackers pushing the payload below.
Server Room (Second Phase)
The interior high ground walkways and server stacks let Doomfist hide above unsuspecting enemies. You can slam down on those pushing the payload through the narrow corridor.
Final Stretch Upper Catwalks
By the last checkpoint, catwalks and platforms near the spawn area give you vertical angles for powerful Slam initiations. Enemies are often grouped on the narrow ramp, making them prime targets for Rocket Punch knockback into walls.
2. General Defensive Strategy
Ambush and Disengage
On defense, you don’t have to commit all your cooldowns just to get a kill. Sometimes it’s enough to knock the enemy back, force out key cooldowns, or secure a pick and then retreat behind your front line.
Guard High Ground
Most teams will try to take the high ground advantage. Deny them by patrolling catwalks, rooftops, and ledges. Punish anyone who attempts to flank or climb up.
Choose Targets Wisely
Aim for squishy supports or DPS out of position. Avoid diving a fully shielded tank line—unless your team is following up.
Use Corners/Walls
Gibraltar has many tight corridors and walls. Rocket Punch is most lethal when you knock enemies into walls for bonus impact damage.
Coordinate with Teammates
Let them know when you’re about to dive. They can focus your target, bubble you (Zarya), or heal you (Ana, Mercy) as you engage.
