Soldier: 76 is often played as a pure DPS, but his Biotic Field makes him a hidden 3rd support when used strategically. Most players drop it selfishly to heal only themselves, which keeps them alive but does little to stabilize the frontline. Instead, placing Biotic Field on your tank (the root of the team) multiplies its value. Sigma, as an anchor tank, thrives on uptime; every extra second he stays alive delays enemy progress, buys cooldowns, and keeps space under control. When you drop Biotic Field at his feet, you’re not only healing him but also healing yourself (since you’re positioned just behind him) and often nearby supports. That means one ability is simultaneously extending three layers of survival: tank → DPS → supports. In your last game, this is why you hit 2,423 healing (well above average for Soldier), while still maintaining 7,300+ damage and low deaths. By maximizing field placement, you reduce strain on your supports, let your tank absorb more, and ensure you’re not the “next branch to snap” once the root falls. In short, Soldier’s true power isn’t just shooting — it’s healing smart, not just healing self.
